摘要

Scab caused by Fussarium graminearum is a serious disease in many wheat production regions world wide. In China, Yangzi basin and northeastern spring wheat regions suffered with the problem seriously. Scab can make not only yield loss but also poor quality, moreover, it could be poisonous when grain was contaminated by DON. Fungicide , of course, is effective to control its epidemic in some extent and the controlling efficiency could be 60% , however, it can cause pollution and contamination in the same time and increase the production cost. Many scientists realized that wheat breeding for scab resistance is very economical way to solve the problem. However, less progress was achieved so far, compared with wheat breeding for other economic traits. With the development of biotechnology , we are hopefully to employ the new tools combined with traditional breeding methodology to defeat scab in near future.
