This paper presents an application of Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) for thedevelopment of a Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) package for a class 8 truck. A fullsleeper cab SEA model was developed to support the NVH package design process.Additionally, a frontwall sub-system model was extracted from the full model and used toextensively evaluate different modeling techniques and frontwall treatment alternatives.The selected frontwall treatments and modeling techniques were subsequentlyincorporated into the full sleeper cab model. The full model was comprehensively validatedvia physical testing and then used to guide the NVH package design by evaluation of thenoise performance of several package iterations. The treatment selection for each cabsubsystem (e.g. backwall), considering one at a time, was based on the highest performanceresulting from different noise control treatments.
