Prestressed steel reinforced concrete (PSRC) beam is a new type of prestressed composite beams. It uses prestressing technology in Steel Reinforce Concrete (SRC) beam and combines the properties of SRC beam with prestressing technique. The H-section steel inside increases the flexural strength of the beam and the presressing technique improves its serviceable performance. Six SRC beams and eight PSRC beams are considered. This paper analyses the serviceable performance for PSRC beam in the following aspects: the development of maximum crack width, the strain distribution of tension reinforcement, the low flange of H-section steel and prestressing strand, the crack closing performance and characters of deflection. Experimental study indicates that PSRC beam has a better serviceable performance by comparing with SRC beam: the better resistance to crack, the lower strain of tensile rebar, the smaller crack width, the better crack closing performance, and the smaller deflection.
