CROATIA'S EXPERIENCE IN ROAD DESIGN STANDARD MODIFICATION

Based on prior comparative analyses, an interim version of national standards waselaborated, taking into account the traffic and economic peculiarities of the country. Aseries of the European countries' standards were discussed, special emphasis being placed onthe correlation 'road design-traffic safety'. Analysis of the general framework andsoundness of the standards, as well as of project philosophy, marginal project elements,indication of operational rules and of the level of necessary regulation and the objectivesof normization in the process of road designing was carried out.
