It is well known that it is possible to obtain good properties in High Speed Steel (HSS) produced with the PM-process by HIP'ing followed by rolling which means a long process route. Due to using the conventional sintering process instead of the HIP'ing and rolling process a considerable saving can be achieved on series production of wear parts - also on smaller series. FJ Sintermetal has developed a new HSS material called Weardens® with improved hardness and high density produced directly from the sintering process. In this presentation results of this project are shown.
