This work presents a study the development of new metallic matrix composite materials (MMC) through powder metallurgy by addition, distribution and dispersion of nano metric carbide particles. The effects of the nano sized carbide dispersion on two matrix microstructures and its consequences on the mechanical properties are identified. To the metallic matrix ferritic and austenitic stainless steel were added nano particles of tantalum carbide (TaC). The preliminary results showed that the sintering and the density and micro hardness of MMC were influenced by the morphology and the distribution of carbide and the alloys.
