Fatigue Capacity of Plain Concrete under Biaxial Fatigue Stresses with One Constant

The fatigue tests of concrete have been conducted with constantconfined stress, including biaxial compression 、biaxial tensioncompressionand alternate tension-compression fatigue loading. Theexperimental results show that an increase of the horizontal stress leadsto a change of the maximum vertical load-carrying capacity. Empiricalrelationships are proposed for predicting the maximum stress ratio as afunction of lateral stress and fatigue life. Also, the observation of thefailure modes indicates that concrete possesses similar failure patternsunder monotonic and fatigue loadings. The investigation of this papercan provide for the design of concrete structures such as reinforcedconcrete bridge 、 crane beams 、 offshore platforms 、 concretesleepers、 nuclear power plants and pressure vessels. It can also givesome suggestions for the revision of existing Design Code.
