Oil spills have become a serious problem. The Ethylene-propylenediene(EPDM) ultrafine fiber was prepared by electrospun for oil spillcleanup. We report the influence of solution flow rate (Q) on averagefiber diameter (d) and oil sorption kinetics. We also propose anexperimental model; i.e. d∝Q1/2. This relationship can be used to predictfiber diameter and guide the processing technique. The effects ofvarious Q~(1/2) on oil sorption ability were investigated in a batch-sorptiontechnique. A comparison of the kinetic models, showed that theremoval rate fit the first order kinetic model well, which suggested thesorption process is rapid, can reach equilibrium within a short time.
