Using numerical simulation model did estimation of possibility ofsediment lift-out through rubble mound of discharge caisson underwaves and current. Because scale effect on sand movement is not clear,physical model tests are not reliable for the estimation such phenomena.Pressure in rubble mound was compared between experiment andnumerical simulation to verify results of the numerical simulationmodel. Calculated velocity was used to estimate shear stress to evaluateincipient of sand movement. Because it is judged that the sedimentmoves as sheet flow condition, it is decided that, to protect sedimentlift-out, mat made of vinyl chloride is placed covering sea bottom underthe rubble mound.
