Damage to Port Facilities by the 2011 off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami

摘要

The 2011 Off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami causedsevere damage to port facilities and the operations of the ports wereseverely disrupted. We have gathered the data of damage due to thetsunami of each port facility with the cooperation of port managementbodies and Ports and Harbours Bureau of MLIT (Ministry of Land,Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism). This paper reports not onlystatistics of damage caused by the tsunami to ports and port facilitiesbut also the tsunami fragility curves of port facilities by using the resultof the data gathering on tsunami damage.
