A new “reverse synthesis” method for the speckle noise reduction conducted concurrently with the SAR image synthesis is proposed. The method keeps high resolution for high-quality pixels and averages by neighbors the pixels affected by the speckle noise. The method is based on analysis of the quality of each pixel to resemble the “corner reflector” reflection property. The approach was tested with the raw echo data from the Soviet Almaz-1A SAR satellite.
