This paper describes a new modulation concept for the three-to-one matrix converter, which decreases input current distortions at the mains voltage sector boundaries. This implies shifting of output voltage pulses during the switching period in such a way that the switching period always starts with the pulse having maximum amplitude, then goes a lower amplitude pulse and modulation period ends with the zero-voltage pulse. The simulation confirmed the effectiveness of this approach.
