The design stages have been developed and the structure of the locomotive decision support system, which incorporates the features of the railway transport operation has been obtained. To take into account not only quantitative, but also qualitative characteristics of the locomotive driver or intellectual decision support system, it is proposed to use fuzzy logic methods. Hence it was possible to determine and calculate the additive quality criterion of the intellectual system controlling activity. The results of the work make it possible to model the activity of the locomotive brigade more qualitatively, which in the future will serve as the basis for the development of autonomous intelligent locomotive control systems. The developed method is given for three main criteria of work considering safety, energy consumption and implementation of the traffic schedule. However, for a more flexible and accurate modelling, this approach allows the introduction of additional criteria, and the simplicity of calculation provides the necessary speed when implemented on the on-board locomotive computers.
