Investigation of Contacts' Repulsive Force of Medium and Large Capacity Contactors

The cantacts' repulsive force of a contactor under high overload current is one of the important elements affecting the contactor's making capability. The origins of the force, which has several components, are stated in this paper. A device is utilized to measure the electromagnetic forces of differnet contacts' structures and arc blasting forces under different gaps. The electromagnetic forces are also calculated by a 3-D magnetic field software and compared with the experimental results. First analysis about the arc repulsive force is presented.
