Use of power electronics technology in the electric drive has importance in industrial applications. Development of electric motor, converter and digital control techniques for the induction motor were shown in the last few decades. Even though, being developed components such as power electronics, electric machines, control hardware and software, the drive technology is still growing at the fast speed. The fast growth of electric drive is becoming more and more due to over demand of reliable control system, flexible unit, process improvement etc. Today, electric drives are being demanded for high efficiency, reasonable price, low maintenance and good quality production in industrial sector. This paper presents the design of PWM control strategy for three phase induction motor drive using redundancy technique with softstart mechanism for smooth and nonstop operation.
