Abstract: A novel gas-sensing system based on a dynamic nonlinear response is reported. A sinusoidal temperature change was applied to a semiconductor gas sensor, and the resulting conductance of the sensor was analyzed by fast Fourier transformation (FFT). The output signals of the sensor changed characteristically depending on the composition of the sensed alcohol and were quantitatively characterized by the higher harmonics in FFT. The characteristic responses of the gas sensor are discussed in relation to the kinetics of alcohol at the sensor surface. !24
