CONCERNS ON ARCHITECTURE-CENTEREDSOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: A SURVEY

We propose a framework for practical realization of architecture-centered software developmentrnthat consolidates two major view-points in the domain of software architecture: (1) anrnarchitecture-based systems development view which requires development processes andrnproducts to respect good architecting principles and (2) a system-based architecture technologyrndevelopment view which requires software architecture methods and technologies to respectrnevolution, reuse and componentization as, inherently, basic properties of software systems. Wernsurvey and discuss the use of software architecture technologies in solving problems of evolution,rnreuse, and componentization as inherent characteristics of any complex systems. Issues ofrnconcern for adopting architecture-centered software development are then discussed togetherrnwith problems facing current ADLs, as technologies for software architectures. We proposernpossible research directions necessary for practical realization of the framework.
