Product data is the description of product function,rnbehavior, structure and its whole lifecycle informationrnincluding design process, manufacture process. Because ofrnproduct development concerned of multidisciplinary aspects,rninformation increasing with product development processrnand CAD/CAE/PDM tools used during product developmentrnvarious; product data is heterogeneous in differentrndevelopment phase and different development departmentrnwhich hinders collaboration during the whole lifecyclerndevelopment. In order to solve the problem of heterogeneousrnproduct data sharing and interchanging, the article proposes arnmetamodel-based heterogeneous product data integrationrnapproach. The core of heterogeneous product data is thernheterogeneity of product model, and most heterogeneousrnproduct data integration is based on the mapping betweenrnproduct models, which only solve integration of some limitedrnkinds of product models by building a common productrnmodel, and their extensibility is poor, so they can’t integraternthe product models besides the limited kinds of productrnmodels. Metamodel is definition and specification of model,rnis higher level abstract of product data. In the article, anrnapproach based on product metamodel to integraternheterogeneous product data and heterogeneous product datarnintegration architecture are proposed, and a prototype systemrnis developed.
