The experimental results obtained in a study regarding the dissolution of Mn~(2+) from different manganiferous minerals are here reported. The leaching process is carried out by sucrose or glucose in sulphuric acid media. These compounds are used to simulate agro-industrial waste materials in which carbohydrates are present. The chemical reactions involved during the reductive process are complex and a stoichiometry that is glucose concentration-dependent was found. The results obtained for the laching of other elements such as Fe showed that the process is selective and can be used as first step to obtain final product such as MnCO_3 or related compounds.
