To understand deeply the influence of the deposition and dispersion of aerosol contaminations in HVAC ducts on IAQ, in-site tests have been carried out in a hotel building located downtown Changsha city, Hunan province throughout the entire air-condition period, including summer and winter (Jul. ~ sep. 2003 and Dec. 2003~Mar.2004). Comparison and analysis of Long-term sampling and real-time test data have been made. It is indicated that the HVAC ducts character is the dominant influence factor on the deposition of aerosol, while the environmental parameters in HVAC ducts dominate the growth of microorganism. The proper selection and use of filters and HVAC ducts cleaning measures can significantly decrease the deposition and resuspension of aerosol contaminants. In sum, the work completed in this paper laid a sound foundation for further researches on the control and elimination methods of aerosols and the improvement of IAQ theoretically and experimentally.
