This paper discusses a system design process using a reverse engineering. The ReversernEngineering approach, if possible is a cost-effective and easy approach to use in a system design.rnAll industries use this approach consciously or unconsciously to reduce the system developmentrnrisk. It can be a part of formal process, simple requirements reuse, or adoption of industry standard.rnThe reverse engineering approach can be considered as an effective system design method inrnimmature systems engineering environments. This paper proposes a system design process usingrnreverse engineering which can be tailored for large complex system development projects. Thernproposed process composed of two stages to product system specification generation. The reversernengineering stage is performed to define functional and physical architecture of legacy systemrnused as reference model when they are not available. The reengineering stage takes outputs of thernreverse engineering stage to define the rest of logical and physical solutions.
