Phase IIe of the ASCE benchmark study consists of arnnumber of simulations for various configurations of a 4 storyrn3-D steel structure; two of the configurations considered tornbe healthy states and the others damaged conditions. Inrnphase IIe the parameters of the reference model (on whichrnthe damage is imposed) are those of a realization of arnstochastic model where the probability distribution of thernparameters was selected to approximate the real variabilityrnanticipated in practice. Phase IIe includes, in addition tornsome known damaged configurations, two blind tests. Therntrue damage patterns of the blind tests appear in the paperrnby P.Lamb that is also a part of these proceedings. In thernanalysis of phase IIe presented here the measured data isrnused to obtain matrices that are proportional to the flexibilityrnand these are used to locate and quantify the damage. Thernanalytical portion of the paper focuses on the technique usedrnto normalize the modes in the absence of input and on therndetails of the model update strategy used in various sectionsrnof the analysis.
