A Case Study Using the Cumulative Sum Method

摘要

The sensitivity analysis conducted on the Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) method establishes that it is not effective inrncertain range of shifts in the mean of the process. Given certain values of the shift in the mean, the minimum valuernof α (type-I error) has been calculated. The analysis on the effects of shift in the mean and type-I error on therneffectiveness of the method shows that the CUSUM method does not predict the existence of shift in the processrnmean when the real shift is much higher than the shift that is being searched for its existence.
