With the implementation of distributed generations, microgrid has become an important entity in the modern power systems. A grid-connected microgrid can participate in multiple electricity markets with different time scale to procure energy and self-schedule its internal generation resources to serve its demand. In a medium-term operation horizon (weekly, monthly or longer time span), the decision portfolio faced by a grid-connected microgrid includes forward market procurement, internal generator commitment and dispatching, and spot market procurement. To optimize this decision portfolio while manage the risks caused by the uncertainties, a medium-term operation decision-making model is proposed based on the minimax regret optimization theory. The corresponding mathematical model is formulated and solution method is provided. Numerical case studies are also provided to illustrate and verify the proposed model.
