The author identifies inference aggregation and cardinalitynaggregation as two distinct aspects of the aggregation problem. Hendevelops the concept of a semantic relationship graph to describe thenrelationships between data and then presents inference aggregation asnthe problem of finding alternative paths between vertices on the graph.nHe presents an algorithm for processing the semantic relationship graphnto discover whether potential inference aggregation problems exist. Anmethod of detecting some aggregation conditions within the databasenmanagement system (DBMS) is presented that uses the normal DBMS querynlanguage and adds additional catalytic data to the DBMS to permit anquery to make the inference. The author also suggests the use of setntheory to describe aggregation conditions and the addition of setnoperations to the DBMS to permit the description of aggregationndetection queries
