Even though the total amount of global electric vehicles (EVs) has risen significantly in recent years, the development of EVs is still at an early and crucial stage, at which we are eager to have not only the technical but also commercial innovation, especially the innovative business model to create a virtuoso cycle for EVs' popularization and operation. This article focuses on the innovation of global business models for EVs. We take six countries in three different regions—the United States in North America, Germany, France and England in Europe, Japan and China in Asia—as examples to illustrate their attempts and efforts to innovate EV business models for the development of EVs in their own countries. At last, based on the analysis of these examples, this article illuminates the implications of such EV business models, offering several pieces of advice for achieving a transition to an EV world.
