Combining Si PV module technology with an efficient III-V CPVs top PV into a tandem device is an attractive approach to enhance the efficiency of PV modules. Here, a method called III-V/Si hybrid configurations for enhancing the Si module efficiency is placing III-V static CPVs at the edge gap of each Si wafer rather than stacking in the top of Si. The prototype PV module shows the enhancement of efficiency. The cost evaluations of the III-V/Si hybrid configurations compared with Si module is discussed under various presumed cost ratio of III-V/Si PVs.
