Modified STC Correction Procedure for Assessing PV Module Degradation in Field Surveys

In this paper, a new method is explored for translating measured I-V characteristics of a module to STC conditions, with emphasis on suitability for PV field survey. The prediction accuracy of our proposed `Standard Irradiance Desired Temperature' (SIDT) method has been compared to a modified IEC 60891 procedure-1 and the Anderson model-based procedure. It has been shown that the proposed SIDT method results in a normalized root mean square error of less than ±1 % in maximum power, whereas the other two methods result in an error of more than ± 2 %. The SIDT method is also shown to be better for predicting other parameters at STC conditions.
