The design and fabrication of aperture coupled stacked microstrip patch antennas for TT&C uplink and downlink system in satellite is described in this paper. Two antennas are designed here of which one operates at an uplink frequency of 6.4GHz and the other antenna operating at a downlink frequency of 4.2 GHz. Stacking configuration is implemented in this design to enhance the gain the gain of the antennas. To obtain a wider bandwidth Rohacell Foam substrate (εr=1.05) of thickness 6mm is used for the radiating elements. Teflon Fiber Glass (TFG) substrate is used for the feedline, to reduce spurious radiation. The fabricated antennas weigh about 35-40 grams that makes them suitable for satellite applications. The design of the antennas for uplink and downlink system is described and the comparison of simulated results with measured results is presented.
