A number of the issues which arise from the representation ofimage formation, in particular for 3D volumes and time sequences, arediscussed. This includes nonspatially parametric representation ofproperties, representations in terms of linkage between elements,associative grouping to establish similarity as the criterion forlinkage, associative grouping represented as list structures, and waysto take into account the local and global nature of properties
