In this paper, SNR estimation algorithms are evaluated in digital receivers for BPSK and QPSK modulations in an AWGN channel, using LabVIEW Communications and GNU Radio Companion environments. Knowledge of the estimated SNR will be taken as a control variable to make adaptive communication systems that optimize energy consumption. A proof of concept of this system will be done in later work [7].
