The nature of intermittency possessed by renewable energy sources (sun and wind) is still a constraint in integrating these energy sources into the power grid especially in large-scale because it can disrupt the stability of the electrical system.This paper presents an application of a new method to provide constant power output to the power grid for some time (hours) from the generation of solar renewable energy sources through for Energy Management System (EMS) technology.The application of this technology is performed in the demo plant of Sumba Smart Micro Grid located in Nort East Timor of Indonesia, with a 400 kWp PV module providing constant power of 223.9 kW for 6 hours to the power grid (the magnitude of dispatched power to the grid depends on solar radiation conditions). EMS technology is also able to set the charging and discharging system to the lead acid type battery to allow a longer lifespan operation.The operational performance of EMS technology in recent months shows that the proposed technology can help operators of grid with large scale photovoltaic (PV) power plant to improve the stability of power dispatched to the grid.
