In the small current neutral grounding system where a Single-phase earth fault, the transient zero sequence current of the sound section has high similarity while the transient zero sequence current on both sides of the faulty point has low similarity. Based on this, the Modified Hausdorff distance is applied to fault section location. The method utilizes the centralized structure built in the wide area measurement system to solve the issue regarding synchronous acquisition of transient zero sequence current signals, only acquires fault information of each section in the faulty line for the purposes of reducing the traffic of the communication system and centralizing the calculation of the decision-making center, describes the difference between the fault section and the sound section through Modified Hausdorff Distance, and finally determines that the section with Modified Hausdorff Distance greater than the threshold is the fault section. According to the simulation verification, the method produces accurate and reliable locating results and is not subject to fault angle, grounding resistance and fault position.
