It is a process for the calculation of a distance (1) of a fault location (f) of a single-pole ground fault of a measurement location (m) in an electric power supply system described. The conductors - earth - voltages (u φ r, φ, φ φ s u, u φ t φ) and conductor currents (i φ r, φ, φ φ s i, i φ t φ) in the measurement location (f) is measured. A zero voltage (u φ 0 φ) and a zero current (i φ 0 φ) measured or calculated. From this, it is to be symmetrical voltages (u φ 1 φ, u φ 2 φ) and symmetrical currents (i φ 1 φ, i φ 2 φ) of the positive phase-sequence system and of the negative phase-sequence system is calculated. Be it a symmetrical zero current (i φ 0s φ) and a fault current (i φ f φ) is calculated. The measurements are repeated under different conditions, so that from this difference values to calculate the voltages and currents. It is, from this, the distance (1) of the error location (f) of the measuring site (m) is calculated.
