This paper proposed a microwave near-field compressive sensing system based on a single-conductor surface-wave transmission (SW-TL). The surface-wave Goubau line is capable of confining the electromagnetic waves within a subwavelength region along the surface. Therefore, its interaction with the environment is supposed to provide a subwavelength resolution. We use thisproperty to build a near-field sensing/imaging system. For proof of concept, only 1D case is discussed in detail. Compressive sensing algorithm is employed for detecting sparse scatters inthis application. The simulation results show that the proposed system is able to accurately reconstruct the positions of up to four scatters.
