摘要

To develop fishing vessels that can support sustainability in the fisheries sector, the design process should establishrnsolutions that respond to social, economic and environmental issues related to the fishing vessels. Changes in fishrnresources, increased awareness in the environment, continued technological developments, the enforcement of newrnregulations, and in addition, future demand on the fisheries sector, have reformed the design requirements andrnconsiderations when designing fishing vessels. With all these issues, it is a difficult challenge to develop sustainablernfishing vessels for Indonesian fisheries. Thus, this paper identifies the design requirements and issues that should bernconsidered when designing sustainable fishing vessels. Furthermore, any challenges that could inhibit the developmentrnof sustainable fishing vessels in Indonesia and the action necessary to overcome those difficulties are defined.
