摘要

The present study is an experimental investigation of the formation of slag eyes in a model vessel with a digital video technique. The size of the eye is found to depend on the heights of both the liquids as well as the bottom gas flow rate. For ladle metallurgy applications, an analytical model of eye formation has been proposed using fundamental fluid flow considerations. The model expresses the eye sizes in terms of relevant non-dimensional variables and is shown to predict the eye formation behavior in different liquid/liquid systems with reasonable accuracy. Further work with the use of mathematical models may be necessary to obtain precise quantitative estimates of the process, particularly aspects related to slag emulsification.
