Abstract: A theory of high-order harmonic generation by bichromatic field is proposed. The theory is valid for exciting fields with comparable intensities. Calculations carried out in the frames of the theory show that adding a high-frequency exiting field significantly enhances harmonics conversion efficiency. The possibility of phase matching of harmonics under bichromatic excitation is being discussed. !14
