With the appearance of high-tech corporations and the extension of their dimension, their products and the procedure of producing are becoming more and more serialized and versatile. Traditional approach is not able to cope with a great deal of knowledge (information, technology and experience) belonging to an organization, because it is considerably scattered and difficult to manage. In this situation, the leaving of important experts and their knowledge and expertise gives a heavily blow to the organization and greatly slowdowns the speed of reaction. The organization also suffers the restriction of its creative capability from this tough situation. It is the virtual learning team that can cater to this need of effective knowledge management. The virtual learning team, as a fashion of organization, is a general platform which enables the members in the group to highly collaborate with each other without considering their actual working place. Self-learning and self-adaptability can also be added to this definition. And the advanced technology of knowledge management, as the cornerstone of virtual learning team carries much weight in taking on this rough task of making the organization survive from the morass, which it is also the main point of this paper that need further discussion. By using this technology, we can establish and maintain the knowledge structure (also called knowledge map in this paper) of an organization with some simple but powerful tools. The members in the organization can locate to the most appropriate expert or the most useful information in order to handle the problem rapidly and effectively. It is no doubt that knowledge management which is the integration of knowledge seeking, cataloging, evaluating and expertise locating is the powerful measure of managing the data and information of an organization. Thanks to the information technology, three ingredients-knowledge storage, discovery and transfer-as reflected by the knowledge warehouse, discovery server and virtual classroom are embraced in knowledge management. Moreover, some elements of human resource management are also contained in this paper, because a person is the smallest managing unit of the organization that is hard to ignore. In all, we must realize that the virtual learning team is a revolution rather than a change towards conventional method of organization and management. Who contributes to this? A systematic organization and use of information, process and expertise-the Knowledge Management.
