Direct Conversion from colorimetric values to combinations of CMYK values using CK space

To meet the increasing demand for an accurate color reproduction, we have developed an algorithm to obtain a suitable combination of CMYK values, which represent the area coverage value of certain colorants of a certain printer, when a colorimetric value is given as an input. This algorithm achieves more accurate color reproduction than any other algorithms that contain the process of gray component replacement (GCR), because all color conversion processes are conducted based on the data acquired by the measurement, while the conversion process with GCR are not. The algorithm reflects the instructions for the way color should be composed upon the color reproduction through the definition of the CK space. The algorithm, that needs only three-dimensional search, requires less computation than any other algorithms that require four-dimensional search.
