摘要

The aggregates of cyanine dyes adsorbed at the surface of semiconductor electrode represent a superior model system for the photoelectrochemical studies of quantum-sized molecular nanocrystals. The strong interactions existing between tightly packed cyanine dye molecules in the aggregate not only dramatically alter the spectro-scopic and redox properties of a dye but also ensure the delocalization of excitation over a aggregate and provide favourable conditions for the interaggregate transport of electronic vacancies (photoholes) through the mechanism of redox conductivity. These factors exert a profound effect on the photosensitization behaviour of dye aggregates.
