The Terra Nova FPSO is the first Offshore Floating Unit specifically designed for an ice infested harsh environment. This unique vessel has required special attention at the design phase considering the harsh environment of the Canadian Grand Banks region and the requirement for quick disconnection to avoid collision with large icebergs. Particular attention was also kept when developing the Integrity Strategy of the Vessel. The development of Inspection frequencies and Inspection methods includes a number of criticality assessments such as Design Criticality Review, Corrosion Risk Assessment to allow inspection and maintenance activities to be focussed on the parts of the Unit which are the most heavily loaded. A Veristar model of the vessel has been built to analyze and summarize the Hot Spot Areas to be checked first. For each inspection, the updated hull condition will be analyzed and stored in a database in order to trace the history of the vessel and to forecast the next inspections. This paper describes the Inspection Strategy developed for this unique Floating Unit.
