This paper describes the simulation and control of a water supply system, consisting of sequence of pumping stations, delivering water through pipelines to intermediate storage reservoirs. The sequential pumping operation is a complex task and is almost impossible to control it manually. Besides, the system dynamics is also nonlinear (not in control affine form) an advanced nonlinear control design technique (dynamic inversion) is used to control the pumping operation such that three target reservoir levels are maintained. The nature of the problem does not lead to any internal dynamics issue. A water supply system model available in the literature is considered as a case study. Performance of the controller is checked for many initial conditions and for non-constant command inputs.
