摘要

It is urgently necessary for us to "identify, assess and monitor disaster risks and enhance early warning" for flood disaster reduction. Flood runoff modeling and analysis are key components for that purpose. ICHARM of PWRI has started a cooperative research project (FY2005-06) to develop an integrated flood analysis system (IFAS) for poorly-gauged basins with the Infrastructure Development Institute (IDI) and major private consultancy companies in Japan. IFAS is to be easily applicable with minimal cost to river basins prone to flood hazard risk in developing countries where enough hydrologic observational data are not available. Therefore, IFAS has the capacity to implement any precipitation-runoff model with common user-friendly interfaces which enable us to utilize globally-available GIS databases and precipitation data from satellites. The concept of design and major features of IFAS are introduced.
