摘要

Subscribing for a service typically implies accepting an end-user agreement. However, 50% of mobile users regularly provide consent without effectively reading agreements, because of lack of time and excessive language complexity. And even if modern operating systems notify users about the permissions each new installed application needs, users are only provided with very limited options -either give consent or not use the service at all. As opposite to this model, we propose innovative user interface patterns based on the concept of "licenses" for personal data. Conceptually similar to licenses for open data, licenses for personal data are machine readable metadata. They are rendered on the device screen as permission forms similar to those already existing in modern operating systems; however they may include important additional information (such as who will use the collected data, for what purpose and for how long) and may give users different options to use the service.
