In this approach, single pass and multi-pass compression test for low alloy steels were conducted on a "THERMECMASTOR-Z" thermal-mechanical material testing machine,to simulate actual rolling process of the 1700mm hot strip finishing mills in the Semi-Continuous Rolling Strip Factory of Anshan Iron & Steel Co. From the trues tress-true strain curve of the compression tests of three low alloy steel 232, 10TiL, HQ100 steel, the specific remanent strain λ for each steel was figured out and regarded as the actual specific remanent strain between two finishers of the 1700mm finishing mills. The relationship of λ as a function of deformation temperature, holding period and strain was deduced by regression, i.e., λ =f(t℃, Δτ ,ε ). The remanent strain Δε between two finishers for strip rolling was calculated on the basis of the specific remanent strain λ . Substituting ε_n by thernpractical strain ε_n~t = ε_n + Δε_n into the mathematical model of deformation resistance, the calculated deformation resistance showed good consistency with that of strip rolling practice in which the steels were lolled at low temperature region of austenite.
