摘要

TiAl and NiAl are synthesized by explosive consolidation starting from stoichiometric mixtures of elemental powders of Ti, Al, and Ni. Powders with differenct morphology are applied. Both cold and hot explosive pressing is applied at room- and elevated temperatures. Subsequent HIP- treatment is used to cure expected micro cracking in the samples.rnFor the first time it was possible to directly synthesize TiAl during cold compaction. Mechanical testing, X-Ray and structural analysis are reported and discussed. Compressive strength values at RT of up to 1800 MPa (preliminary without subsequent HIP) have been obtained.
