摘要

In the present study, the local arcrnpropagation process was studied using a long postrninsulator string with a length up to 3.6 m. The criticalrnconditions for maintaining an arc on an ice surface wasrninvestigated under various parameters including thernlength of insulator string and the conductivity of waterrnused to form the ice layer. Based on the experimentalrnresults, a mathematical equation is proposed to expressrnthe critical conditions of arc propagation on ice surface,rnI.e., the arc maintenance conditions. This will allow usrnto complete the mathematical flashover model forrnapplication to the EHV insulators covered with ice.
