This paper presents preliminary results ofrnfrequency response based analysis performed onrnwindmill generators with randomly wound windings.rnPresented attempt aims at providing a complementaryrnmethod, which will allow for assessment of electricalrnmachine's stator / rotor quality after manufacturingrnprocess and also for detection of critical faultsrnoccurring in both stator and rotor in manufacturingrnprocess and in operation e.g. turn-to-turn, phase-tophase,rnetc. This kind of defect is very oftenrnundetectable at production time or during revisionsrnand may lead to winding damage due to overheating,rnunbalance, etc. Both winding wideband admittancernand transfer function analysis was applied asrncomparative indicator of winding quality. Measuringrnsetup along with experimental results of admittancernand transfer function for both new and defective unitsrnis presented.
