WEB WAREHOUSING: Technology for future Business Environment

With all of the technological change that is going on today, the last thing anyone needs is yet another technological revolution to tackle. Computer systems development professionals are forced to deal with a staggering amount of change, generated at an unbelievable speed, and increasing complexity with every passing day. It is necessary to design a suitable data model to represent web information such as development of web algebra and query language, maintenance of web data, development and web mining tools. The revolution, Web warehousing, is one of the most interesting and dynamic of the new technological transitions. Web warehouse includes not only data, but text, graphics, images, sounds, videos and other multimedia objects as well. It delivers all of the same kinds of applications that the data warehouse delivers, but via web technology. Web technology adds the capability to perform the operations like search, statistical analysis, mining etc. with business related objects made up of pictures, sounds, graphics, video and more. Web warehousing is the technological world you are left with when you merge data warehousing/business intelligent systems with the new Web technology. This paper focuses on this new technology, its architecture and pitfalls encountered while designing a Web warehouse.
